Currently reading :: Child 44 - Tom Rob Smith

Quick update while lunch-ing..

This is the book I've been reading (yes, finally! :3)

Have found myself some 'reading time' over the weekend, an hour or two.
And this book took me some five weeks.:3

Tomorrow I will finish it and read the next book! XD

The story begins in Chevroy, the rest in Moscow and Voualsk. Engaging and quite a page turner. It speaks of the ugly reality and brutality of those in power during the stalinist regime (and transition after his death) and how (childhood) trauma affects people in the sickest ways possible, driving him to do the most unimaginable things-- but that is not all there is to it. This story is focused on the protagonist's self realization and resolve. We look at how he turns his back from the state with only his own instincts to trust...

One thing is constant in this book -- trust no one.

--

To be honest I have not read such a good book in a long while; This made me turn page after page, seeking to know more!

After this, I will be reading his next book, The Secret Speech... I am sure it will not disappoint!

Food Review :: Krispy Kreme's Mickey-shaped Doughnuts

Normally I would ignore the visually-enticing food displays at Krispy Kreme -- usually regretting an overly sweet doughnut from an impulsive buy. Sugar was excessive. It was the standard.

Back then, when Krispy Kreme first opened here, I wanted an ordinary doughnut, but no, everything was glazed! I did not like glaze. T_T

They have been coming out with a lot of new products reacently without the glaze though, and that I can take! XD

--

I came across these Not-so-hidden Mickey Doughnuts, and they made me happy! :3

They looked so good and post-worthy so I could not just pass by it! XD

I got a bit of everything. :P

This is the Minnie one in Milk Chocolate, the ribbon is made from sugar -- tasted nice but quite ordinary despite its appearance.

Almonds, in white chocolate. By far my favourite among the three. The crunch and neutral taste of the almond complements the sweetness of the choc.

And finally, the pistachio one, in white chocolate, which was just as good! :D

Unfortunately, this will only be available for a limited time...!

...I actually wanted some more of the Almond and Pistachio ones! :3

Spring Cleaning

Hello dearies~ Soz for the long absence (well, a few weeks...?! XD).

Have downloaded far too many dramas.. *guilty*

Last one I've seen was Mr. Selfridge. At first I was a little let down by this series after having seen The Paradise; But some five episodes in and I found myself hooked. Now I'm wondering if this gets a second season! Haha.

~

Other than that, I had a most productive weekend, cleaning my room (or well, just my desk in this case) :P

I have only just realized I have been keeping so many trash (some for more than ten something years!), decided to throw away things I didn't need anymore.

No use holding on to memories from the past, maybe a few good ones. Should focus on the good ones at present....:3 -- I think sleepiness is getting the better of me as I write this... n_n

~

Leaving you with another beautiful sunset from my room window. ^_~

Bon, ben. Et bien, Je te laisse un photo d'un vue magnifique~! (--atm...apparently crushing on someone French who speaks french. Hehe.)

Watching Mr. Selfridge definitely made me miss my French language days. ;P

À plouche~! :X

Bittergourd --and.everything.else.mixed.in-- Soup

Well, okay, I just wanted an excuse to use this ware! XD

Bittergourd is good and I have learned to love it. -- Err, although I haven't tried Bittergourd Curry (in reference in 部長's cooking in Hotaru no Hikari)!

..

It is pretty much a mix of everything else I had in the fridge -- crabsticks, dumplings, mushrooms, tomatoes, and whatnots.

..

It turned out really nice! :D

..

In the end, nothing beats a nice hearty soup at the end of the week, watching Agatha Christie's Poirot - the TV drama.
